Nana Ama Odame Okyere, the second runner-up in TV3’s 2014 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) talent competition, has launched the Nana Ama Odame Okyere Foundation at a colourful event held at Alisa Hotel, Accra.

The event brought together a number of dignitaries including queen mothers, business executives and Members of Parliament (MP).

The founder of the foundation, Nana Ama Odame Okyere, in her welcome address, indicated that the foundation is a non profit-making organisation aimed at promoting sustainable development through public sensitisation initiatives, with special emphasis on environmental protection and safe mining practices.

She continued that the foundation, which is barely a year old, is also partnering Conservation Alliance International, a non-governmental organisation, to introduce a greening project dubbed, “Little Green Hands”.

She explained that “Little Green Hands” is a project which targets basic school children. It gives them a platform to discuss issues on environmental conservation.

The founder added that the project screens documentaries on best environmental practices across the world to help children make informed decisions on contributing to the protection of their environment.

Nana Ama Odame further mentioned that the staff of the foundation also engage children in its project areas in hands-on activities, which include tree planting and community clean-up exercises.

The beauty queen was happy that the foundation is also working closely with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) to promote the National Sanitation Day (NSD) initiative.
