Kwasi Oppong Ababio

FOR FAILING to appear before the Sunyani Circuit Court B after he had been subpoenaed and a bench warrant issued for his arrest, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sunyani, Kwasi Oppong Ababio, has finally submitted himself to the court and has been granted GH¢10,000.00 self-recognizance bail to re-appear on 24 August, 2015.

The registrar of the Sunyani High Court (prefers name not mentioned), who confirmed this to DAILY GUIDE in a telephone conversation, said the case for which the MCE was issued with a bench warrant involves the Sunyani Municipal Assembly and one Raphel Cugbadzi, whose vehicle was towed by the assembly’s towing outfit in April last year.

The MCE and the Municipal Coordinating Director were served with a writ to appear before the court to answer questions on the operations of the assembly’s towing outfit.

But since last year April, Mr Kwasi Oppong Ababio had failed to appear in court and so he was subpoenaed on 12 August this year, to show up but again, he failed to comply thus, the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.

The regional police commander was therefore served with a copy of the warrant for the MCE’s arrest on 17 August, but he willingly submitted himself to the court the following day and was granted a self-recognizance bail to reappear on the above-stated date to defend himself on the substantive case between the assembly and Ms Raphael Cugbadzi
