The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has broadened its frontiers with the introduction of new programmes.

Having been accredited by the National Accreditation Board, the college is set to undertake its own graduate programme in Defence and International Politics.

These developments were disclosed by the Vice President,Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, in a speech read on his behalf by the Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, during the college’s Course 36 Graduation Ceremony at Teshie, Accra, last Friday.

He paid tribute to the college for carving a niche for itself in Africa with the training of middle and senior level officers for staff command leadership roles in various armed forces and allied security institutions on the continent.

The veep commended the Commandant and his staff for their innovation over the years and encouraged them to target senior civil/public servants and top management personnel in the private sector as well.

The vice president thanked the United Kingdom for its immense support to the college which he noted had been a major contributory factor to its present status.

The college suffered a setback when one of the students from Nigeria, Major Ibrahim Danlami, lost his life a few weeks before the graduation.

The Commandant, AVM Issifu Sakib Kadri, said the late Major Danlami, having satisfied all the requirements for the award of a certificate, was going to be awarded post-humously.

In his annual report, the Commandant expressed delight that the GAFCSC had come far and of age to take on the honour of being a centre of excellence for professional military, inter-agency                              and departmental training.

AVM Kadiri indicated that the Course 36 was made up of 39 students from Ghana and 22 from other African countries.
