Alex Doe, the Operations Director of Inside Ghana, a pressure group, championing good governance and policy issues has expressed his intention to contest the Anlo Constituency parliamentary primaries in the upcoming NDC primary elections. The aspiring contestant is going against the incumbent Hon. Clement Kofi Humado, the former Minister of Youth and Sports and Agriculture. The Anlo constituency which is another safe seat for the ruling NDC, always gets hot when it comes to the primaries. Any MP with the intention of staying long on the seat usually had the sack. It would be recalled that the late Squadron Leader Clend Sowu (rtd) was kicked out for Victor Gbeho. In the same Vein, Hon Gbeho was also knocked out for Hon. Humado.
The incumbent Member of Parliament had already started his campaign tour in the constituency however, information gathered from the ground had it that the constituents are dissatisfied with his performance especially with the way he handled development projects in the area. One area the people thought he did not do well was in the agriculture sector. They indicated that they were expecting him as an Agriculture Minister to bring massive agriculture projects into the Volta Region. He was also given a low grade during his tenure of office as Youth and Sports Minister; he was expected to lobby for a sports stadium to be built in Ho, the regional capital but he failed to do it.
When Alex Doe was contacted, he admitted he would contest when the ban is lifted. He said he had many calls from youth leaders of Anlo to contest and would not let them down. He was confident of changing the face of politics in Anlo to encourage the youth.
To the question of having the blessings of the opinion leaders and traditional leaders of the area, he indicated that indeed he had sought permission from them and would be hitting the ground when the ban is lifted.
