Due to persistent robbery attacks in Amanfrom and its environs, the Accra Regional Police Command has mounted two police posts to serve residents of Amanfrom American Farm.
The two police posts include a police tent and a store donated by one Dr Kwabena Appiah, a resident of the area.
The Accra regional police commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno who was at the area to inspect the two police posts in a statement revealed that policemen have already been deployed to man the two posts twenty four hours.
The police tent, he pointed out, was mounted on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Muhammed Ahmed Alhassan.
“A resident named Dr Kwabena Appiah has also released his wife’s tailoring shop to the police to use temporarily in our policing duties.”
Adding he said, it had come to the notice of the police that some residents who have personal guns do fire warning shots around 11pm daily.
“We understand you do this to scare the armed robbers but also know that your actions also scare your neighbours, so please put a stop to that,” he admonished.
He urged residents to help the police with information leading to the arrest of the armed robbers since Amanfrom has now become one of the police flash points.
Neighbors were also entreated to form neighborhood watch committee to supplement the work of the police in the area.
Mr. Kwabena Appiah, the neighbor who released his shop for use as a temporal police post said he did that as his contribution to help reduce robbery attacks in the area.
Amanfrom and its environs over the past three months had suffered massive robbery attack.
It would be recalled that somewhere in May, more than eight houses were raided by armed robbers but police managed to clamp down on four of the suspects who are currently in court standing trial.
On August 15, 2015, another gang raided American Farm area, within Amanfrom leaving four persons with knife and gun pellets wounds.
This compelled the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno to visit the area on August 17, 2015 to assess the security of the area.
On Friday, August 21, 2015, a 16 year old girl identified as Sarah Okra was stabbed and robbed at gunpoint around 5am by a two member gang while on her way to the Kasoa market.
On August 24, 2015, another gang raided some houses in the Amanfrom area robbing victims of monies and other valuables.
