Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan will watch the Black Stars-Rwanda Nations Cup qualifier from the bench due to a slight knock.

The striker is however sure his teammates are capable of making a good representation without him.

With three clear points after a 7-1 romp over Botswana under their sleeves, Gyan is optimistic the Stars will ride over the Rwanda challenge, the venue notwithstanding.

Ghana showed promise in their friendly against Congo Brazzaville last Tuesday and indications are that the team will be flying on the same wings to avenge the 1-0 defeat in 2003 that denied Ghana the 2004 Nations Cup participation in Tunisia.

Gyan, who is nearing full fitness after picking a slight knock on the knee a few days ago, admitted the enormity of the task ahead but hinted that the team’s psychological make-up and readiness is enough to see them through.

The Black Stars leader said, “I admit it will be a tough game but we’re up there mentally to win regardless of the fact that we are playing at their backyard.

“Experience has taught us that running away with all points on foreign soils is crucial. We did that recently in Togo which in my opinion aided our qualification for the last Nations Cup.

“We are ready for them; we are praying for a good day and we won’t disappoint. It’s very important to have good days in matches; when that happens, everything works for you and that is what we are all looking up to.

“A win will hand us six points in our Group and that is also a great motivation. We want to win. I remember the Rwandans once thwarted our dreams in a qualifier; it’s payback time.”

And with almost a full house, Coach Grant is most likely to feature goalkeeper Razak Braimah, Baba Rahman, Harrison Afful, John Boye, Jonathan Mensah, Afriyie Acquah, Wakaso Mubarak, TP Mazembe’s Daniel Nii Adjei, Christian Atsu, Red hot Dede Ayew and his junior brother Jordan.
