Organisers of the National Media and Creative Arts Festival (NAMECA), in collaboration with the Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute (COGAI), have adopted the Chess for Peace Championship by the Legends International Chess Foundation (LICF).

This partnership was arrived at after the management of both organisations came into an agreement last Friday, September 11 after the launching of the ‘Tell Everybody’ African support song which featured some of African hit makers like Becca, Sarkodie, SaultiSol, Mafikozolo, Yemi Alade and Toofan.

As part of the festival, the LICF is embarking on a nationwide campaign dubbed ‘Chess for Peace’ where the game of chess would be used as a means to reach out to all, in partnership with efforts towards the attainment of the Goal 17.

In relation to this development, the COGAI has invited the LICF to host a special championship for the media and creative art personalities across the country from September to December 2015.

This would involve training sections for media and creative art personalities, interviews on media platforms, courtesy calls of national personalities, preliminaries and the championship finals.

Director of Communications at COGAI, Rockson Isaac, reiterated that the championship would form part of the activities of this year’s National Media and Creative Arts Festival 2015.

He urged all media networks and creative arts personalities to give their support and embrace this step to the development of the industry.
