THE ABUAKWA Police have reportedly arrested the Sanaahene of Atwima Koforidua Akrofrom, Nana Kwaku Nkrumah, in connection with the brutal murder of the chief of the town.

Nana Adusa Agyapong IV, the deceased chief of Atwima Koforidua Akrofrom, was gunned down by unknown assailants on a piece of land.

On Tuesday the Abuakwa police reportedly apprehended Nana Kwaku Nkrumah, whom the law enforcement agents consider as the prime suspect.

A police source, who demanded anonymity, told DAILY GUIDE that the police started searching for suspects in the dicey case on Monday morning and the Sanaahene’s name appeared as one of the possible suspects.

According to him, information reaching the police indicated that there was a problem between the deceased chief and the Sanaahene, prior to the shooting incident.

He said the police therefore saw it prudent to arrest Nana Kwaku Nkrumah for questioning to determine if he had anything to do with the callous murder of the late chief.

The police source hinted that the Abuakwa police are still on the heels of other people domiciled in Atwima Koforidua Akrofrom who are suspected to have a hand in the chief’s murder.

He disclosed that the police had intensified patrols at Atwima Koforidua Akrofrom and the nearby towns in order to prevent possible attacks on other people following the murder of the chief.

Nana Adusa Agyapong IV was shot thrice—twice in the neck and once in the leg—by unknown assailants on Monday when he and his boys were working on a contentious tract of land in the community.

The death of the chief was said to have heightened tension in the area and sent shivers down the spines of many residents.
