Prophet TB Joshua, Founder and Senior Prophet of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), has donated three brand new Toyota pickups in addition to 20 motorbikes to the police administration to facilitate its work.
Samuel Kwame Sackey, leader of the delegation to the police headquarters for the official presentation of the vehicles on behalf of Prophet Joshua, said the donation was to complement the initiative and innovations of the police in enhancing peace, safety, business and growth in Ghana.
“We cannot close our eyes to allow criminals to overcome our communities and country. Government alone cannot provide for the police and so there is the need for individuals to also assist the police combat crime,” he stated.
Mr Kwame Sackey noted that the police, under the leadership of Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan – the Inspector General of Police – had instituted remarkable and internationally acclaimed initiatives and innovations that had reduced the canker of armed robbery and many social vices in the country.
He mentioned some of the initiates and innovations as the introduction of the police visibility, the creation of the Formed Police Unit and its rapid response to emergencies, the public confidence reaffirmation programme and the community policing unit.
“Prophet TB Joshua, Emmanuel TV and SCOAN sincerely appreciate these innovations and initiatives and all the benefits these have brought to Ghana, as the gateway to Africa,” Mr Kwame Sackey underscored.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, who received the logistics, confirmed that police work is increasingly becoming complex and demanding in these contemporary times.
“In fact, it can be dangerous, stressful, dehumanizing and it is thankless, hence the establishment of the police chaplaincy comprising church, mosque and other faiths that take care of personnel and support all staff and their families,” he posited.
He affirmed that the police would continue to need the support of all stakeholders, including the church, to be able to discharge their mandate satisfactorily.
The IGP thanked SCOAN on behalf of the police, for donating the items to support the work of the police.
