The Chief Fire Officer, Dr. Albert Brown Gaisie has disclosed that personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) must brace themselves for movements from one station to the other within the country as the Service continues to expand.

The move, he said, is in line with Management’s restructuring efforts, with the view to ensure even distribution of personnel across the country.

The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) made the disclosure at the commissioning of an Ultra-Modern ICT library for the Tema Regional Fire Command and a Fire Station at Tema New Town respectively.

“With the commissioning of new Fire Stations across the country, personnel must be prepared to move on transfers to man those stations,” Dr. Gaisie indicated.

He advised personnel not to take transfers to mean punishment or a punitive measure, but as a call to serve in any part of Ghana in their chosen profession as indicated in their respective letters of appointment.

Facilities of the Fire Station were provided by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), and the ICT Center and Library for the Regional Fire Command was constructed by the Ghana National Fire Service.

The CFO asked personnel posted to the New Town Station to be professional in their approach to duty and to also ensure that the Fire Tender which cost the tax payer a substantial amount, is taken very good care of.

The Ghana National Fire Service has so far commissioned thirteen (13) fire stations in the last one month in Tema, Central, and the Volta Regions, and more are to be commissioned in the coming months as part of the expansion of the Fire Service. It is the desire and intention of the Service to cover every district of the country so as to ensure public safety.

The Chief Fire Officer thanked the Tema Metropolitan Assembly for the provision of the Fire Station, and urged all other Assemblies to emulate this noble gesture and support the efforts of the Ghana National Fire Service.
