THE GENERAL Overseer of the Anointing Prayer and Evangelistic Ministry in Tema has threatened to curse National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Propaganda Officer, now Communications Officer, Kwaku Boahen, for lambasting the clergy and former presidents about their comments on the unending voters’ register debate..

Prophet Francis Kwadwo Owusu has given Kwaku Boahen one week to apologise to Former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufour and the clergy before he curses him to serve as a deterrent to other mouth-ranting politicians who rain insults and attacks on the clergy anytime they comment on national issues.

“It is a sin to insult a man of God. This will bring a curse on the country. So instead of allowing him to bring curses on the nation for innocent people to suffer, we will curse him so he dies,” he said.

“If the clergy are not important will they be part of the National Peace Council?” he quizzed.

The angry-looking Prophet Kwadwo Owusu, who is also a member of the Tema Ministers Organisation (TMO), issued the threat last Sunday night during a three-day Revival Service under the theme, ‘Divine Hope of Glory and Impartation Service’, in Tema.

Boahen’s Gaffe

It would be recalled that the livid NDC Deputy Communications Director, recently speaking on Adom TV, asked the clergy to desist from expressing their views on the voters’ register debate since it is not their duty to decide for the Electoral Commission (EC) whether to compile a new voters’ register for Ghanaians or not.

Kwaku Boahen further asked the clergy to concentrate on their gospel and leave the politicians to discharge their duties, stressing that the Christian Council of Ghana does not have the mandate to determine the way elections and their processes should be handled in Ghana.

“I’m the deputy communications director of the NDC and I’m saying that is the position of the NDC and our response to the call by the clergy and those mounting pressure on EC to change the register,” he stated.

The NDC communicator’s comments followed calls by the Christian Council of Ghana, adding their voice to several calls led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for a new voters’ register ahead of the 2016 general elections.

However, Prophet Francis Owusu, reacting to Kwaku Boahen’s attack on the clergy and the two former presidents, questioned: “Who are you? What authority do you have to ask JJ Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufour and the clergy to keep quiet?

“How dare you ask us to keep quiet on such a national issue? You are a politician so what?”

“He needs to come and apologise before I curse him. If there is something going wrong in this country and as clergy who are also stakeholders we want to comment and you will insult and vilify us then it will get to a point we will invoke curses on you,” he added.

Touching on the voters’ register, Prophet Kwadwo Owusu expressed surprise over the strong defence mounted by the NDC for the current voter register to be maintained when the NDC is not the official mouthpiece of the EC.
