The Police in the Brong Ahafo Region say they are ready to protect people who will take part in the primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
At a press briefing, the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, DCOP Maxwell Atingane said, “We thank God that in Sankore, which could have been a trouble spot, the Regional Minister Eric Opoku is going unopposed, so we don’t envisage any trouble.
DCOP Maxwell Atingane said 1,722 police personnel have been deployed to 29 constituencies in the region for the primaries.
In addition, all district commanders are to liaise with other security agencies to augment and protect constituencies within their jurisdiction.
DCOP Atingane said depending on the size of a constituency, a mobile force and vehicle would be on standby to confront any eventuality. More so, there will be plain cloth policemen to patrol the constituencies.
Atebubu would be critically policed because of the disqualification of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Sampson Owusu Boateng, the burning of the voters’ register and clashes between Muslims and Christians.
Other trouble spots are Kintampo South and North, according to the B/A Police Regional Commander.
