
ALL ROADS in Kumasi lead to the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club on Friday December 4, where the maiden edition of the Kilit Insecticide Tennis Championship takes place.
Mess Tennis would play host to Anglogold Ashanti Tennis Club in a tournament sponsored by Evergreen Chemicals Ltd, sole distributors of Kilit Insecticide and other Polyguard products.
Samuel Ampadu-Kyei aka ‘Kyikyiss’, president of Mess Tennis, commended Evergreen Chemicals Ltd for sponsoring the tournament which has coincided with this year’s National Farmers’ Day.
He showered praises on the sponsors, pointing out that the sponsorship would go a long way to develop the game of tennis in the Ashanti Region in particular and the country in general.
Kyikyiss urged other corporate institutions to emulate the shining example of Evergreen Chemicals Ltd by also assisting Mess Tennis to promote the sport in the region.
The Kumasi Branch Manager of Evergreen Chemicals Limited, Emmanuel Baffour Gyawu, said his company was touched by the efforts of Mess Tennis in promoting the sport in the region, in recent times.
He explained that the sponsorship package was his company’s widow’s mite toward promoting tennis in Kumasi, promising his outfit’s continuous support for the club.
Mess Tennis would feature players like Kofi Affum Baffoe, Henry Akwaboah, Bridgatte Sutinga, Brenda Sutinga, Brenda Bangdome and Mrs. Evelyn Addai Mensah among others.
The Anglogold team is made up of Kobina Essandoh, Christopher Mensah, James Bawre, Dr. Kwasi Sarfo, Osahene Adu-Boakye, Bernard Toku, Ben Adams, Yaw Hakeem, Horlali Adri and Ernest Amoako.
The tournament starts at 8.00 am and it would be preceded by the commissioning of the re-fencing of the court project by Brig. Gen Joseph Adu Boampong (GOC – Central Command), which was also sponsored by Evergreen Chemicals Ltd.
