Newly-appointed Northern Regional Deputy Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Safia Mohammed, says people in the region are fast becoming aware of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s incompetence and mismanagement of the economy.
According to the former student’s leader, abject poverty, coupled with untold suffering being unleashed on the people as a result of the government’s bad policies, is forcing many of them into a state of hopelessness.
She told DAILY GUIDE exclusively after the party’s Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu, had introduced her to the Acting Chairman, Freddy W. Blay in Accra that she would work hard to sell the NPP to the people as a better alternative to the NDC.
“We have done it before and we will continue to sell our message to the people for them to accept us back into office because the NDC is virtually grinding Ghana to a halt,” she said.
“As we speak almost all the social intervention programmes the NPP government introduced have collapsed under this government. There is massive unemployment and the youth in the region have no hope for the future,”she noted.
“The NDC promised so many things in the Northern Region but as we speak, we have not seen many of those promises. They are only good at propaganda just to confuse the people, but things are going to change this time around,” Hajia Safia Mohammed promised.
She said access to healthcare had become the preserve of the rich and added that the NHIS is “almost dead” while SADA projects “continue to be a mirage.”
She stressed, “I believe strongly that if the NPP is given a second chance in 2016, we will be able to prove to Ghanaians that propaganda does not build a nation. We managed Ghana’s economy well in our time and I know we can do it again.”
