Reggie N Bollie, the Ghanaian statement at this year’s X Factor reality show, failed in their bid to win the title.

On a night many had predicted a win for the two, they lost to 17-year-old Louisa Johnson.

On Sunday Reggie N Bollie gave a more-than-enough account of themselves, making a credible statement of how far they travelled to make it to the final two.

Kicking off with their song of the series, a mash-up of 1D’s What Makes You Beautiful and OMI’s Cheerleader, the pair, who were clad in their beloved bomber jacket and cap combination, mixed things up by launching into a version of I Like To Move It, which had both the audience and the judges on their feet dancing along.

“Yesterday you were good… Tonight was a whole new level. Your energy, your enthusiasm; after that, we may be in for a surprise,” show boss Simon Cowell said.

Nick Grimshaw agreed, saying, “You guys could win. I’ve never seen a reaction like that in here.”

Seventeen-year-old Louisa Johnson was however the bookies’ favourite to win. She becomes the youngest X Factor victor in the show’s history.

Throughout the competition, Reggie N Bollie consistently surprised the judges by dominating the public vote but were expected to stage a spectacular performance to pip the Essex frontrunner to the prize record deal.

Louisa Johnson’s win makes her the first winning act for mentor Rita, who jumped ship from BBC show, ‘The Voice’, this year. Reggie N Bollie would have also become Cheryl’s third winning act after Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry, if they had won.

The two acts performed their winner’s song live on the results show, giving viewers a taste of the track they might be hearing at number one this Christmas.

The final show included a performance from Adele, who took to the show’s stage to sing her record-breaking hit, Hello, which she first teased in a 30-second snippet during an X Factor advert break.

One Direction, who were formed on the show in 2010, returned to perform track Infinity from their new album, Made in the AM, their last before the band takes a break in March 2016.
