Swansea City new signing Andre Dede Ayew last Saturday made a huge statement in the English Premier League when he fetched one of his side’s goals against defending champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Dede’s sterling performance justified the many transfer rumours that greeted his departure from Olympique Marseille.
His brilliance on the day notwithstanding, the deputy Black Stars captain admitted quality of The Blues, his readiness to learn and the fact that they were numerically disadvantaged.
Dede, who appeared exceptionally excited in a post-match interview said: “They are the champions with a great squad, but we managed to get a great result (2-2).
“I was very happy with my goal, particularly as the squad has really helped me out. Hopefully I will continue working hard to help the team.
“I had my first shot blocked. But I got up quickly and managed to score with the second shot. It was a really great moment for myself and more importantly, the team.
“We must keep the spirit we have. We showed a lot of character. This is only the beginning for us.
“Even though it was 10 versus 11, they were still very dangerous. We had to be careful even when we were attacking.
“It was my first game in the Premier League and I’m always learning. The intensity is different and I have to work hard to get better and better week-in week-out for the team.
“But my team-mates, the manager and the coaches are all pushing me so that I can do more and more for the team.”
