The Sowutoum Police have apprehended a 35-year-old physically challenged man for breaking into shops to steal various items running into thousands of Ghana Cedis.

Two suspects believed to be an accomplice of Sadat Sulleman have also been apprehended.

They are Adisa Issa, an 18-year-old girlfriend and Tanko Salifu, 35.

Items retrieved from the suspects upon their arrest included a pinch bar, two screw drivers, cutter, bunch of master keys, four price stickers, 100 dollar carbon paper, some quantities of fake Ghanaian currency and cosmetics.

The three were believed to have broken into about 35 shops in Accra and Kumasi to steal various items.

They are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

Briefing the media, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Accra Regional Police Commander, said on September 23, 2015 the suspects broke into an electrical appliance shop at Santa Maria and stole various items running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

While investigations were ongoing, police apprehended the three on October 7, 2015 in a hotel at Darkuman where they were lodging.

He said at the time of arrest, the three suspects were removing the price tags from the stolen items to replace their own.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sadat Sulleman is the leader of this syndicate which has been involved in several nefarious operations in Odokor, Kwashieman, Fadama, Barn yard, North Kaneshie, Abeka, among others.

The regional commander said the last time the Police arrested Sadat Sulleman for committing similar offence, his two legs were in bad shape but this time around, one of his legs had been amputated.

He averred that the Police also gathered that the three, after breaking into the shops, transported the stolen items to their agent in Kumasi and that Tanko Salifu is the errand boy of the leader Sadat Sulleman.

The three would be arraigned before court soon.
