Bruce Isaac and Emmanuel Asamoah in police custody

The Tabora Number 5 branch manager of Sika Krom Money Lending Company has been arrested by the Tesano police for forcibly locking up a customer for defaulting in a loan repayment.

In addition, his credit manager has also been arrested for aiding in the detention of the customer.

The miscreants are Bruce Isaac, 34 years of age, the branch manager and Emmanuel Asamoah, 23, the credit officer.

They were said to have imprisoned one Cash Abbey, 50, customer of the Tabora Number 5 branch of the company in one of their offices yesterday.

It took close to two hours for the Tesano police to finally free the victim.

The two are currently assisting the police to investigate the matter.

Abbey Cash in a statement, told the police that he applied for a loan of GH¢2,500 from the company in July this year.

Per the agreement, the victim said, the company gave him GH¢2,000, and told him the remaining GH¢500 would be used as collateral.

“They also said I will pay an interest of eight percent per month which I agreed,” he disclosed.

After a month, Mr Abbey Cash said he paid a total sum of GH¢2,600 to the company in addition to the GH¢500 they were withholding.

Yesterday morning, he narrated that he received a call from the company that he was needed in the office.

He said when he got there, Mr Bruce Isaac told him that he was still owing GH¢200.

The victim said a disagreement ensued and in the process, Bruce asked Asamoah to lock him up in one of their offices until he had paid the money.

“Acting on his instructions, the credit manager also locked me up in a dark room for close to two hours and with the help of a friend, I managed to contact the police for assistance,” distraught Abbey indicated.

Meanwhile, DSP Edward Tetteh, Tesano district police commander who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, said the police had a hectic time freeing the victim.

Asamoah, he said, refused to open the door to the police personnel who initially visited the place, stating that he (Asamoah) was acting on instructions from his boss.

With the help of a re-enforcement team from the station, the victim was released and the two men were busted.

They would be sent to court after investigations into the matter are completed.
