About 350 police officers from the Central Region on Monday began a two-week promotion course at Cape Coast.

The participants were drawn from the junior officer rank of constable to chief inspectors.

Opening the course, the Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson, indicated that the Police Administration has taken that step to ensure that personnel are fully equipped with the requisite knowledge that is expected of them for effective performance in their new ranks.

DCOP Ninson urged participants to pay attention to what would be taught since examination would be conducted at the end of the course and only those who would pass the exam would be promoted to the next rank.

He stressed the need for the participants to conduct themselves professionally and observe the service’s code of conduct and ethics.

He warned that any irresponsible behaviour or misconduct exhibited would be immediately met with withdrawal of the officer(s) from the course and possible disciplinary action taken against them.

The Regional Commander appealed to the facilitators not to hesitate to inform him of any misconduct on the part of any participant for the necessary action to be taken against such a person, adding, “the police service is a disciplined institution and would not tolerate any form of indiscipline.”

“You are therefore requested to exhibit a high sense of professionalism throughout the course period and we would not expect any drunkenness, littering of the premises and unnecessary noisemaking,” he added.
