ALTUM Consulting, an auditing and marketing organization in Accra, has held a two-day capacity building for selected public sector internal auditors on the implementation of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of the Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA).

The training, which was attended by more than 30 participants, was held at the conference hall of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Accra last week.

Fred Pokoo-Aikins, Managing Consultant, in his welcome address, said internal auditing is the cornerstone for sustainable organizational and institutional governance of every establishment in various countries.

He explained that his outfit provided the training for free as part of its corporate social responsibility to enhance transparency in the country.

The managing consultant was hopeful participants would introduce their colleagues in the profession to the lessons.

He mentioned that IPPF was developed and promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors and adopted by the Internal Audit Agency of Ghana through careful research and survey over several years.

Fred Pokoo-Aikins also indicated that the standards fall in line with the core roles of internal auditors.

The managing consult reiterated that internal auditors were committed to their work.

Some of the participants at the training told BUSINESS GUIDE that they were happy to benefit from the training.

They added that strengthening of the public sector would help in the implementation of decisions.

George Fuasta Baffoe, Director in-charge of Public Relations, said Ghana adopted the International Professional Practices Framework standards in 2011 but little has been achieved since that time.
