Kwesi Kyi
DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira constituency organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region, Kwesi Kyi is dead.
According to sources, the organizer met his untimely death last Saturday in a gory motor accident.
Reports indicated that Kwesi Kyi and her sister lost their lives in the accident that occurred at Adiembra near Kegyina on the Takoradi-Axim road.
An NDC source at Axim who divulged the story to DAILY GUIDE, indicated that the organizer was driving the party’s constituency chairman’s pick-up when the accident happened at about 7pm.
According to the source, Kwesi Kyi and her sister were the only occupants of the vehicle. On reaching Adiembra, the NDC organizer was said to be turning onto the main Axim-Takoradi road when an articulator truck entered his lane and collided with the pickup.
DAILY GUIDE learnt that Kwesi Kyi was one of the constituency executives who were suspended for allegedly going public with internal party issues.
The alleged recalcitrant party executives were banned from using the party’s vehicles and other logistics.
DAILY GUIDE learnt that the ban was recently lifted and so the constituency organizer went to the chairman to ask for his vehicle to travel to Tarkwa for his (Kyi’s) cousin’s engagement ceremony.
As part of efforts to ensure reconciliation, the constituency chairman was reported to have given the vehicle to him.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that after attending the engagement programme, Kwesi Kyi and his sister decided to travel to Takoradi to purchase certain items for sale at their retail shop at Axim, but the journey ended abruptly.
Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, the Western Regional organizer of the NDC, Japheth Baidoo, said the late Kwesi Kyi asked permission from his chairman to use the latter’s vehicle to attend the said ceremony in Tarkwa with his sister; and that the accident occurred on their return journey.
He hinted that according to a medical doctor, the deceased and his sister went into coma immediately after the accident, but died upon reaching the hospital at Axim.
